Happy New Year everyone! I am feeling extremely positive about 2018. This fun energy towards a fresh start is something I have never experienced before. I have always viewed the Holiday as just that, a Holiday. This year, however, it feels like a great time to refresh not only my life, but my home as well! Below are some steps I will be taking to help ring in 2018 throughout our home!
TIME TO PAINT!
We all know that paining your home is an inexpensive way to get the most impact. If you haven’t painted anything in your home recently take a look around. Maybe it is as simple as painting your entry way, woodwork or a powder room. It is amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do for a space. Below are some of my favorite colors to use.
One of the easiest and most overlooked ways to make your home feel fresh is to update your linens. From your sheets to your towels, this simple task adds a clean and comfortable feeling to any home.
Pillows are absolutely my favorite home accessory. They can change the look of a room in an instant. You can check out some of my favorites, including the bottom pillow featured in this photo here.
On January 16th be sure to look for my post featuring all of the pillows I am loving right now!
There is something about walking into a room with fresh flowers. I am constantly buying myself flowers to disperse throughout my home. Today I spent some time researching companies to subscribe to bi-weekly flower deliveries. Has anyone had any luck with these companies? So far, I am leaning towards Bloomsy Box. I would love to hear about your experiences with them!
I hope these tips help to get you motivated for the new year. Something about 2018 just feels right to me!
Have you ever wondered why you are immediately drawn to a color? I have always been drawn to the color blue. This sitting room make me so happy as it takes a classic color combination of blue and yellow and throws a modern twist at it!
The room all began with this amazing photograph from my friends at Itinerant Studio. I immediately fell in love with the yellow in it and I knew we needed to create a room where it could stand out. The textured blue wallpaper added the depth needed as we were keeping all of the fabrics solid. This was an intentional choice to keep from competing with the art and wallcovering.
The chandelier needed to be large and I had always envisioned something similar to a mobile. Insert the Sommerard Triple Arm Chandelier from Visual Comfort.
Take a look at how all of the fun details came together!
And after every install, this is exactly how I feel:
Do you have a color you are immediately attracted to and have incorporated into your home? Or a piece of art that inspired a space? I would love to hear about it!
I wanted to start this blog by introducing you to some of the most important people in my life, my family! These boys are my everything and throughout this journey you will get to see each of their funny, crazy and completely different personalities. They put up with all of my craziness while still showing an immense amount of support. They believe in me, push me, hold me up and humble me all at the same time.
The number one thing you should know about this man, is what an amazing father he is. He loves these boys with all his heart and I could not be where I am today without him by my side. Brian and I met when we were still in high school. We have grown together into adults, spouses and parents.
MEET EVAN AND COLE
Meet our greatest accomplishments, Evan and Cole.
Cole, 10, is my generous, video gaming, hockey playing, old soul. He is growing up faster then I can fathom and reminds me every day that just because he’s ten, that doesn’t mean he acts like it! He is a goalie for his hockey team and loves sports! #coleythegoalie
Evan, 7, is my hilarious, over-the-top, loving, crazy child. He makes us laugh daily and loves to socialize. If playing with friends was a sport, he would win all the trophies! He has an amazing thought process and I love to watch him create things. #onlyevan
