Today I am revealing a guest bedroom that I am head over heels for! The lucky guests who will be staying in this room will be surrounded by fun, pattern and color, a trio I love!
The bedroom inspiration came from this amazing blue and green chinoiserie fabric. It was such a great palette to play off of with shapes and color.
My client requested enough sleeping space for a family to stay in the space so we added this sofa sleeper with a pair of movable ottomans. This allows guests the option for a sitting area or sleeping quarters.
The addition of textures, amazing art of images from around the world, fun lighting, patterns and layers created a colorful yet comfortable retreat!
This past month I was asked to participate in a nightstand challenge for the Great Big Home and Garden show that begins this week! I accepted the invitation and got to work on revamping a nightstand and I thought I would share this amazing DIY transformation with all of you!
I chose to purchase a nightstand rather then hunt one down which meant IKEA was the perfect inexpensive solution! I went with the RAST Nightstand for a couple of reasons; it was unfinished, it had drawers and it was a great price.
I went back and fourth on how exactly I wanted the end result. I decided to go bold. The goal is to attract as much attention as possible as it will be placed in a silent auction that will benefit Habitat for Humanity. Insert Sherwin Williams Honorable Blue. I was in-between a kelly green and this blue, Instagram voted and Honorable Blue won! This color is almost electric on this nightstand and I LOVE it.
I have always wanted to purchase a pattern from O’verlays and this was the perfect opportunity. The Greek Key pattern, which I left in white to contrast against the blue is everything I hoped it would be!
The last part of this rehab is the hardware. I love Etsy for hardware. I have found so many treasures on there!
If you are in the Cleveland area, be sure to stop by The Great Big Home & Garden Show and check out all of the nightstand transformations in person February 2nd-11th.
Have you ever wondered why you are immediately drawn to a color? I have always been drawn to the color blue. This sitting room make me so happy as it takes a classic color combination of blue and yellow and throws a modern twist at it!
The room all began with this amazing photograph from my friends at Itinerant Studio. I immediately fell in love with the yellow in it and I knew we needed to create a room where it could stand out. The textured blue wallpaper added the depth needed as we were keeping all of the fabrics solid. This was an intentional choice to keep from competing with the art and wallcovering.
The chandelier needed to be large and I had always envisioned something similar to a mobile. Insert the Sommerard Triple Arm Chandelier from Visual Comfort.
Take a look at how all of the fun details came together!
And after every install, this is exactly how I feel:
Do you have a color you are immediately attracted to and have incorporated into your home? Or a piece of art that inspired a space? I would love to hear about it!
