I have been posting projects lately on Instagram that feature pieces I found while visiting High Point Furniture Market. For instance, the project above came together when I found all of the furniture pieces a few markets back. This has brought on a lot of questions. Many readers are interested in what the market is or why we go. I thought I would share a brief snippet of what High Point Market is like.
To begin with, many people assume we are heading to a convention center, when in fact, HPMKT is 12.2 million square feet of showrooms, featuring over 2,000 manufacturers. This is where furniture companies and designers go to see and purchase the latest offerings. This Market is to the trade only and is not open to the public.
My favorite part about HPMKT is how energized and creative you feel afterwards. We go every Spring and Fall and each time I feel like I get a breathe of air. This showroom is one of my favorites every year.
I am so looking forward to finding items for my upcoming projects this season, just as I did with the above project. I found both the counter stools and dining chairs on a previous trip.
Have you been to HPMKT lately? If so, please share your favorite showrooms!
I am beyond excited for the return of spring! I am not sure if everyone else feels this way, but this winter seems to be lasting forever! Today I am going to share 5 out of 10 ways that I get my home ready for spring. You can find the other 5 over at Ashley Carpenters blog Joyfully Growing next week! I hope you enjoy and please do not forget to share how you get your home ready for the season!
Spring is not only a messy time for shoes with the rain, but also a time to update your doormat. I just purchased this beauty (with a “C” monogram of course) and I just love the green stripes. You can find it here!
Another addition you can add to your front entry is a fun springtime wreath. This is a purchase I just made and I am so excited for it to arrive. This particular wreath combines two of my favorite things, tulips and pink!
Some of my favorite colors remind me of of spring so this next tip is an easy one for me. Add spring color throughout your home. I have color all over my house, but when springtime hits, I love to update home accessories with fresh colors that exude springtime. Some ideas include flowers, books, napkins and photo frames.
Changing or updating your bedding can completely transform a bedroom. I like to keep my coverlet white or cream and add fun pillows and throws depending on the season. Here I incorporated pink, lavender and mint.
The last tip that I have to update your home for spring is not something you can see, but smell. I currently have an obsession with essential oils and changing the scent to coordinate with the season is something that I believe enhances the feel of your home instantly. Right now I am loving the Purification essential oil from Young Living.
Last week I had the honor of installing a fun filled nursery for some amazing clients who are expecting next month! There are so many fun elements in this space that are not only beautiful, but also functional.
The design started with these fun arrow decals. We stuck with black for all the arrows except one. Hopefully this little one strives to be the gold arrow and dares to stand out!
I love these hanging baskets on the dresser wall. Eventually the dresser will become the changing station and these baskets can be filled with diapers and all of the necessities.
This reading corner adds texture, pattern and contrast with the leather pouf and zig-zag book shelves. Check out some more details of this space below!
I hope you enjoyed this nursery reveal as much and I loved designing it!
