Lake Road Cottage

I have been so excited to share this latest reveal! We took a small cottage and turned it into an explosion of color and usable space. What began as a kitchen remodel, quickly morphed into the first floor. When walking into the kitchen, the first thought most people had was to tear down the wall separating the kitchen and dining room. After some discussion with the homeowners, we agreed that is not the approach we wanted to take. We wanted to keep the cottage feel, but create a space that would still function while entertaining.

Cue the pass-through. By creating an opening between the two rooms and extending the countertop into the dining room, we were able to keep the wall for cabinetry and allow for a great space to place food or drinks for guests.

The 1st thing I fell in love with for the space was the Schumacher wallcovering on the back of the bookcase. This was my inspiration for the entire design.

Custom cabinetry was essential in this space as we needed to use EVERY inch possible. We created a tall spice cabinet where the chimney would not allow us enough depth for a standard cabinet next to the range. We also added pullouts that serve different functions for each side of the range.

The pantry area was lacking before this renovation, by adding lower cabinets, shelving, a broom closet on the opposite wall with the refrigerator and upper cabinets, the storage space doubled in this area.

We wanted white walls in order to compliment all of the pops of color and pattern. Check our some before and afters below:

I hope you enjoyed this weeks reveal! Until next time…
